Abstract
This is an account of a group of 10 adolescents all of whom had been in the care of local authorities for the greater part of their lives. Most of them were in long-stay children's homes and their social workers were working towards a placement in a permanent family. The group met four times at regular intervals. Between each meeting the leaders met with the children's residential worker and social worker.
