Effect of Tongyuan Acupuncture Combined With Qizi Yishen Lichong Decoction as Adjuvant Therapy for Infertility Caused by Premature Ovarian Insufficiency (Liver–Kidney Yin Deficiency Syndrome) and Its Influence on Patients’ Ovarian Reserve Function

Effect of Tongyuan Acupuncture Combined With Qizi Yishen Lichong Decoction as Adjuvant Therapy for Infertility Caused by Premature Ovarian Insufficiency (Liver–Kidney Yin Deficiency Syndrome) and Its Influence on Patients’ Ovarian Reserve Function
Objective: To explore the efficacy of Tongyuan acupuncture in combination with Qizi Yishen Lichong Decoction in treating infertility as a result of premature ovarian insufficiency (liver–kidney yin deficiency syndrome). Methods: We chose 102 infertility patients who were admitted to our hospital from September 2023 to September 2025 and divided them randomly by random number table method into a conventional group (n = 51, clomiphene combined with Tongyuan acupuncture) and a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) group (n = 51, additionally treated with Qizi Yishen Lichong Decoction based on the conventional group), and TCM symptom scores, total effective rate, sex hormone levels, ovarian hemodynamics, antral follicle count (AFC), and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results: The total effective rate, estradiol, peak systolic velocity of ovarian artery, and AFC in the TCM group were higher than those in the conventional group after treatment, while the TCM symptom scores, follicle-stimulating hormone in follicular phase, luteinizing hormone, ovarian artery pulsatility index, and resistance index were lower than those in the conventional group (P < 0.05); there was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion: Tongyuan acupuncture in combination with Qizi Yishen Lichong Decoction is capable of improving the total effective rate in patients with infertility caused by premature ovarian insufficiency (liver–kidney yin deficiency syndrome), relieving TCM symptoms, and improving sex hormone levels, ovarian blood flow, and follicular development.
