Nationalism is defined as thoughts, feelings, attitudes, and beliefs characterized by national or subgroup consciousness. Child ego state distortion of fact and Parent injunctions with resulting Adult contamination or exclusion is offered as an explanation for Masters “creating” and holding Followers. A symbiotic process is postulated from which nationalistic obsessions, unstable loyalties, and indifference to reality follow. A description of degress of nationalism and Drama Triangle positions complete the analysis.
