The thinking behind the New Interpretation focused on the equivalence of productive labor time and value added (v + s), and did not take a position on all of the conjectures and claims that Marx made in chapter 9 of Volume 3 of Capital (Marx [1894] 1981: chapter 9) concerning the conservation of total value (c + v + s) and the rate of profit, s / (c + v), on the assumption of a unitary turnover time of capital.
