Abstract
The article outlines a modified sociological principle for analyzing the economy. This principle conceptualizes economic behavior as a particular form of social action, and the economy as a constituent of society. For convenience the principle is termed “sociologics” in order to convey and stress the inherently social nature, structure and dynamics of the economy. After defining sociologics, the main part of the article identifies the (primarily) sociological reasons for the presence and salience of social variables in economic behavior. Such sociological reasons are identified as social-structural, sociopsychological and sociocultural, and are conjoined with an additional category of cognitive-technical factors.
