Abstract

Omicron Delta Epsilon, the International Honor Society in Economics, announces the annual competition for the best paper presented at the ODE Graduate Student Session during the Allied Social Science Associations conference in January.
Who Is Eligible?
Members of Omicron Delta Epsilon who are current graduate students or who have received their PhD or terminal master’s degree within the last 2 years are eligible to submit. The top finalists are chosen to present their papers at the ODE Graduate Student session at the annual ASSA conference.
What to Enter?
Original research papers written by graduate students on any topic in economics will be considered. The work must be based on research initiated prior to receipt of the PhD or terminal M.A. degree. The papers may be coauthored with faculty members from their degree-granting institution. Entries of up to 5,000 words are preferred, but up to 10,000 words are acceptable.
What Is the Award?
The annual Irving Fisher Award consists of a cash prize of $2,000 to the winner, and submission of the article for publication consideration to The American Economist.
How Can You Participate?
For initial consideration, please submit an abstract of your paper through the ODE website at:www.omicrondeltaepsilon.org/forms/assa-application-graduate.htmlIf you are chosen to present at the Graduate Student Session, you will be asked to submit the full paper and will be eligible for the competition.
Deadlines
All entries must be received by Omicron Delta Epsilon by May 15 of each year.
Award Announcement
The award recipient will be determined in the early fall of each year. The winner will be officially announced at the annual Allied Social Science Associations meetings in January and his or her name will be published on the Omicron Delta Epsilon website.
Selection Process
The Selection Committee determines the annual winner of the Fisher Award. The Committee is selected by the ODE Vice President of Competitions each year.
