The three-component resin system consisting of 4,4'-bismaleimidodiphenylmethane (BMI), O,O'-diallylbisphenol A(BA) and organic rectorite (OREC) was prepared to develop a novel fiber reinforced BMI/BA/OREC composite. The effects of the content of OREC on the mechanical properties, the hot-wet resistance, the hot air aging property, and the thermal mechanical property of fiber reinforced BMI/BA/OREC composites were discussed. The morphologies of composites were characterized using a scanning electron microscope (SEM). The results indicate that the appropriate content of OREC can significantly improve the mechanical properties such as the flexural strength, the interlaminar shear strength and the modulus of flexural elasticity of fiber reinforced BMI/BA composite. The addition of OREC may enhance the hot-wet resistance and has no negative influence on the hot-air aging property of fiber reinforced BMI/BA composite. OREC may reduce the storage modulus and the glass transition temperature (Tg) of fiber reinforced BMI/BA composite.
