Abstract

As we begin the 2012 volume year we are excited by the prospects for the Review of Public Personnel Administration. Our submissions are up, the quality of our articles continues to be top-notch and our international outreach continues to expand. The 2012 volume year promises to be our best yet with a variety of high-quality scholarly articles addressing cutting-edge public human resource management issues from around the globe.
ROPPA has been fortunate to have a very high quality and dedicated editorial and advisory boards. Beginning with this issue we continue this tradition by welcoming five new members to the editorial board, and one new member to our advisory board. Joining the ROPPA Editorial Board are: Leonard Bright, Texas A&M University, Tom Christensen, University of Oslo and Stanford University, Geraldine Kennett, Institute of Public Administration Australia (Victoria), Saltanat Liebert, Virginia Commonwealth University, and James L. Nkata, Uganda Management Institute. Joining the ROPPA Advisory Board is Jacque Simon, Public Policy Director with the American Federation of Government Employees. Welcome to all of you.
Five long-term and valued editorial board members transitioned off of the board at the end of 2011: Carolyn Ban, David Carnevale, Dennis Daley, Steve Hays and Doug Watson. The individual and collective contributions of these members to ROPPA and to the profession are indeed significant. Their formal presence on the board will be missed. However, we look forward to their continued contributions to ROPPA through their scholarship and willingness to continue to review article submissions.
Special recognition is due for Steve Hays. Steve was the founding Editor-in-Chief of the Review of Public Personnel Administration and served at the helm of the journal for the first twenty years of its existence. His dedication to ROPPA not only has left a lasting and vibrant scholarly legacy, but a significant contribution to the professionalization of public human resource management as a discipline and as a profession. Steve will continue to serve on the ROPPA Advisory Board.
Please keep in mind that forthcoming articles published ahead of print can be accessed through the OnlineFirst portal at http://rop.sagepub.com/content/early/recent.
