Abstract
Dr. Karen Swan, a long-time Associate Editor and Editorial Board member of this Journal, passed away on September 5, 2021.
Karen’s association with the Journal began with an article she published in 1991 (Swan, 1991). She served for many years as this Journal’s Associate Editor for guest-edited issues and her sage advice was always welcomed. Subsequently, she became a valued member of the Journal’s Editorial Board where she served until her death.
Karen was the James J. Stukel Presidential Professor of Educational Leadership at the University of Illinois, Springfield, and a pre-eminent scholar and researcher in the field of educational computing. In 2015, she was inducted into the International Adult and Continuing Education Hall of Fame. She authored over 160 articles, proceedings, and book chapters. In addition to her three books, she won many awards from the educational computing and technology community.
Throughout the years, she and I would meet-up at conferences. I always appreciated her wisdom and support of the Journal. She will be missed.
