Le 15 octobre 2014, à Marseille, la Journée « Réseaux en sciences sociales » a eu lieu, organisée par Claire Bidart et Ariel Mendez (contact nadera.bureau@lpl-aix.fr) avec une présentation et une discussion des apports théoriques et méthodologiques des analyses de réseaux pour les différentes disciplines des sciences sociales. La journée d’études a été organisée par le Pôle de Recherche Interdisciplinaire et Intersectoriel « Humanités » (PR2I), Aix-Marseille Université.
On 29 October 2014, in Manchester, England, the Mitchell Centre for Social Network Analysis organized an international event bringing together some leading international scholars in the field of Social Network Analysis (SNA) to celebrate 50 years of sociology at the University of Manchester. A keynote speech was delivered by Bruce Kapferer on the historical origins of SNA in the department of social anthropology in Manchester (http://www.socialsciences.manchester.ac.uk/research/research-centres-and-networks/mitchell-centre/events/).
On 1 November 2014, in Chalaux, Morvan, France, the meeting “Comparative Public Analysis of 24 Soups” took place on All Saints Day / “la Toussaint” organized by the Caravanne@gmail.fr. Statistical tools were necessary to rank the 24 soups from number one (the best) to number 24.
Les 15-16 décembre 2014, à Paris, les deux journées d’études « Social Classes in Europe » ont eu lieu au Site CNRS Pouchet. Ces journées ont présenté un ensemble de débats qui traversent les travaux quantitatifs portant sur les groupes sociaux en Europe, et explicité la place qu’y occupe (ou non) la sociologie des classes sociales.
On 18-20 December 2014, in Paris, the workshop on “Rating, Ranking and Recommendation Systems” took place (http://www.pse.ens.fr/colloques/workshop-on-rating-ranking-and/). Parallel to the development of Internet, there has been a significant growth in methods that rank various items such as Web pages, recommend purchases to customers or political parties to citizens, seek for reviewers of products, evaluate the trustworthiness of reviewers, recommend friends or colleagues in social networks, and so on. The purpose of the workshop was to gather people working on these topics in different disciplines: game theory, marketing and computer science.
On 12-23 January 2015, in Limerick, Ireland, the Seventh Winter School in Social Science Research Methods took place at the University of Limerick (http://www.ul.ie/sociology/winter/).
On 9-10 February 2015, in Bielefeld, Germany, the Universität Bielefeld Center for Interdisciplinary Research (ZIF) organized the International Workshop, “Beyond Methodological Dualism - Combining Qualitative and Quantitative Data”, with a focus on linking quantitative data with qualitative studies. The workshop was organized by Andrea Hense, Ingrid Tucci, Michael Grüttner and Laura Bernardi (contact mm.conference.bielefeld@gmail.com).

On 18-20 February 2015, in Athens, the Data without Boundaries (DwB) Training Course for the “EU Adult Education Survey” (http://www.dwbproject.org/events/tc6.html) took place, hosted by National Centre for Social Research (EKKE). Other partners involved in this course were Eurostat (Luxembourg), GESIS-Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences (Mannheim), Réseau Quetelet (Paris), UK Data Archive (Essex) and Katrin Kaufmann (Freie Universität Berlin).
On 2-20 March 2015, in Cologne, the 44th GESIS Spring Seminar took place, primarily designed to foster knowledge and judgment abilities in the application of multivariate statistical analysis techniques for survey data (https://training.gesis.org/?site=pDetails&pID=0x45EF6F688AF1ED41ADC54300A4EE4F97&lang=en_US).
On 29 March-1 April 2015, in Helsinki, at the University of Helsinki, the European Evolution and Human Behaviour Association held its 2015 conference which provided a multidisciplinary, international forum for researchers applying evolutionary theory to human behaviour (http://www.ehbea2015.org<http://www.ehbea2015.org/). Plenary speakers included Melissa Hines, Chris Kuzawa, Wil Roebroeks, Oliver Schuelke and Beverly Strassmann.
On 29 March-2 April 2015, in Warsaw, the European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR) workshop on Spatial Econometrics and Network Statistics took place (http://www.ecpr.eu/Events/EventDetails.aspx?EventID=90). Whereas so far most applications in political science have been empirical applications of existing techniques from the field of spatial econometrics and social network statistics, in recent years there has been more focus on developing new methodologies specifically of use to applications typical in political science, which was the aim of this workshop.
Les 9-10 février 2015, à Toulouse, les Journées ReSTo ARS, « Art, Réseaux et Trajectoires », ont eu lieu. Ces deux journées s’inscrivent dans le cadre des rencontres organisées à Toulouse par ReSTo, le réseau multidisciplinaire (Sociologie, Economie, Histoire, Géographie, Mathématiques, Informatique…) qui rassemble deux fois par an des chercheurs intéressés par les relations sociales et les réseaux sociaux (http://fr.groups.yahoo.com/group/ReSTo_ARS/).
On 31 March- 2 April 2015, in Paris, the twelfth edition of “Les Journées de Méthodologie Statistique” (JMS) was organized by the National Institute for Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE) in the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris (http://jms.insee.fr/ordg75-jms@insee.fr).
