The International Sociological Association’s RC33 Research Committee “Logic and Methodology”

President’s Report

Dear RC33 Members,

As can be seen below, RC33 is organizing two conferences this year, and at the same time – due to changes both in ISA and the RC33 Board – we need to re-organize finances and the Web site.

Please also find the Call for Session Organizers for the “1st RC33 Regional Conference on Social Science Methodology: Asia” (11-14 September 2017, in Taipeh; deadline for session organizers is 31 July 2016, see below).

Apart from these issues, I want to invite all of you to engage in the methodological discussion outside conferences. As can be seen from this and the previous newsletter, we have two new formats:

At present, there is the ISA Web Forum (see below for details), and all RC33 members are invited to participate.

In addition, Claire Wagner has contributed a text in this issue and Adriana García Andrade in the previous issue by writing full papers on the state of the art and problems of methodological discussions and research in their respective world regions/countries.

We hereby invite all RC33 members – especially those from Asia, Africa and South America – to contribute similar papers, as this would greatly enhance the global discussion on methodology. Papers selected are not only part of the RC33 Newsletter but count as full journal papers. Please submit papers directly to Karl van Meter (Karl.Vanmeter@ens.fr), the RC33 Vice-President for Information and BMS editor.
