Cognitive Proficiency Index for the Canadian Edition of the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Fourth Edition

Abstract

The Cognitive Proficiency Index (CPI) developed for the most recent Wechsler intelligence scales comprises the working memory and processing speed subtests. It reflects the proficiency and efficiency of cognitive processing and provides another lens for analyzing children’s abilities assessed by the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children—Fourth Edition (WISC-IV). This article provides the various tables needed to calculate and use the CPI based on Canadian norms.

L’index de compétence cognitif (ICC) développé pour les échelles d’intelligence de Wechsler les plus récentes se compose des sous-épreuves de la mémoire temporaire de travail et de la vitesse de traitement de l’information. Il reflète la compétence et l’efficacité du traitement cognitif et fournit un autre point de vue objectif pour analyser les capacités des enfants évaluées par le WISC-IV. Ce document fournit les diverses tables requises pour calculer et employer l’ICC basé sur des normes canadiennes.
