Reimbursement for Vascular Access Devices for TPN: Making Sense of the Dollars

Parenteral nutrition has been a standard of care for nearly 30 years for patients who are unable to maintain adequate nutritional status by oral or enteral routes. Clinicians have witnessed many advances and changes in this modality during these 3 decades. As clinical changes have occurred, so too have changes in reimbursement. This article explains the current methods of reimbursement for total parenteral nutrition and outlines future changes.
