Frequently diabetic patients with ESRD have a wide spectrum of complications in many systems, In addition, many psychological problems are woven into this complex of medical problems. This paper has illustrated one approach to disentangling some of these psychological and psychiatric disturbances. The author believes that a detailed compliance history and an analysis of the mental state will enable the physician to tailor his management to the patient's needs and to intervene in a practical manner.
