A novel approach based on digital image analysis to evaluate refined delamination factor for E-Glass 21xK43 Gevetex/LY556/DY063 epoxy composite laminates
The drilling of components made from composites is a widely performed machining process; however, any damage created in this operation may drastically reduce the component’s performance. Generally, a delamination factor is calculated using data obtained from the analysis of optical measurements in order to establish the level of this damage. A comparison between conventional and adjusted delamination factors is presented and a refined delamination factor is proposed. The accuracy of the proposed criterion is validated using experimental results.
