Influence of Silicon Steel Laminating Material on vibrational and electromagnetic characteristics of switched reluctance motor configurations—A detailed investigation
The current work aims to investigate the influence of laminating materials on the vibrational and electromagnetic characteristics of 12/8 (three-phase) and 12/10 (six-phase) Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) configurations developed for electric three-wheeler applications. The present study systematically evaluates how variations in silicon steel laminate impact key performance metrics of SRM, including magnetic flux density, torque ripple and vibration profiles. Utilizing the finite element analysis software package—Siemens Motor Solve and ANSYS mechanical workbench, the electromagnetic and vibrational studies of the proposed motors were carried out. Findings reveal that M19 electrical steel laminating material can significantly enhance electromagnetic efficiency while minimizing vibrational disturbances. In addition, the results indicate that the 12/10 SRM configuration performs better than the 12/8 SRM configuration for electric three-wheeler applications. The results offer valuable insights for designing and manufacturing high-performance SRMs with potential applications in the automobile sector.
