Study of wear test and wear-resistant mechanism of bionic non-smooth groove side in line pan

Due to the impact and friction of coal bulk for a long time, the wear of groove side of scraper conveyor is extremely severe. This significantly reduces the service life of groove side and coal mining efficiency of scraper conveyor. There is an urgent need for an effective wear-resistant method to address the severe wear of groove side. This study aims to investigate the effects of five factors (diameter, depth, horizontal distance, vertical distance, arrangement angle) of the bionic pit structures on wear loss of groove side. Wear tests were designed to explore the effects of combination of different factors on three-body wear condition on groove side. Response surface methodology (RSM) test results showed that an increase in diameter reduces wear loss. Increases in vertical distance and depth increase wear loss. Diameter and vertical distance have an interactive effect on wear loss. The effects of horizontal distance and arrangement angle on wear loss of samples were insignificant. The optimal factors combinations are as follows: diameter is 1.62 mm, vertical distance is 9.01 mm and depth is 0.97 mm. The wear reduction rate of groove side reaches 36.6% with the optimal bionic structure. Combining test results, the wear morphologies of groove side were observed to analyze the wear-resistance mechanism. The pit structures have the function of reducing the friction contact area, storing the coal bulk particles and metal abrasive debris, easing the stress state of the samples, and improving the movement state of the coal bulk. This study can provide basis for wear-resistant design of scraper conveyor, prolong the service life of groove side and improve efficiency of mining machinery equipment.
