Abstract

The British Journalism Review Digital Journalism Award, presented as part of the 2014 Online Media Awards organised by The Drum magazine, has been won by The Guardian. This is the third BJR annual recognition of quality journalism, joining the Cudlipp Award for popular campaigns and investigations in any national UK newspaper, and the Charles Wheeler Award for outstanding contribution to broadcast journalism.
The BJR's award for the Outstanding Digital Team of the Year in online news journalism was one of five won by The Guardian and presented at a dinner and ceremony held at the Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square, London. The judges – BJR editor Kim Fletcher, chairman Bill Hagerty and editorial board members Robin Lustig and Jemima Kiss–highly commended another entrant, Al-Jazeera.
The other categories won by The Guardian were Website of the Year, Best Campaigning/Investigative Journalism, Best National/World News Site and Best Commentary/Blogging.
