1 There was a seminar on China- Taiwan issues on 18 July 1995 in Taipei organized by the China Youth Solidarity Union (Zhongguo qingnian tuanjiehui ). The speakers were the leaders of different Taiwanese political parties. The audience was made up mainly of students and scholars from mainland China living abroad. At this seminar, Lu Hsiu-lian presented her argument for Taiwan's independence by using this metaphor.
