Abstract

This supplement issue contains papers based on the theme Human Resource Challenges in 21st Century. At one point of time in the year 2014, the Editor had decided on the topics for supplement issues to be published each year. Accordingly, we published a supplement issue in the area of Finance last year. In the subsequent years we have planned areas such as Human Resources, Marketing, Operations Management, International Trade and Business and Business Communication. This was done after consultation with Sage Publications and on the basis of recommendations, both volunteered and solicited, received from a wide range of individuals.
The breadth of topics covered by the papers in this supplement issue is quite remarkable. I believe that taken together, they provide a rare opportunity to have a glimpse of a profession as it struggles to understand both current Human Resource Challenges and broader set of concerns that affect all the stakeholders. All the papers published in this issue have gone through our formal refereeing process.
A great deal of coordination and teamwork is required to produce a issue of this length. The Editor would like to thank Richa Awasthy for her cooperation in selecting papers, meeting deadlines and co- ordinating the intake of papers. Mamta Mohapatra was always there to give the right advice just when it was most needed. Special thanks to Leena Prakashan for her excellent work in sending page proofs and responding to the queries from the authors; Rajashri Chatterjee in the editing of references; Ekta Vishnoi for work flow coordination and editorial assistance.
