Abstract

International Journal of Rural Management (IJRM) is the leading global journal in the field of rural management. It has over the last 12 years published quality articles which pertain to different aspects related to rural sphere in general and rural management in particular. The journal is a Scopus ranked one and so far has established itself as one of the key intellectual leaders in shaping views about the debates on rural, rural management, relations between rural and urban and larger issues of development which affect both rural and urban spheres simultaneously. The journal now aims to set a broader agenda and discuss relevant issues in a more focused manner by considering special issues on specific topics periodically. Proposals for special issues can cover aspects such as those related to management and role of development organizations, collectives (such as farmers’ groups and other small producers’ groups), structural aspects of rural economy and agriculture and information and communication technologies and governance in rural areas. This list is only indicative, and the journal will be willing to consider any other relevant topic and theme.
The IJRM, therefore, invites scholars from all over the world to make offers for guest-edited special issues focussing on themes and ideas which are relevant for discussing the nature and form of ‘rural’ as well as for setting issues and agenda for rural management. The proposal for special issue should contain two important documents. First, it should contain a thematic proposal as a narrative not exceeding 1000 words and should comprise the following sections:
Need for special issue on the particular theme, topic or idea
Potential for agenda setting and identification of key policy issues for rural management through the special issue
Appropriateness of scholar as the guest editor of the issue in terms of evolving scholarly interests and past scholarly background
Second, submissions must include a scholarly profile of the scholar with a list of key academic publications not exceeding more than three printed pages. Address and email contact of those submitting the proposal should be included.
The proposal for the special issue will be reviewed by the editorial collective and the decision about it will be communicated within 3 months. If the proposal is accepted, the concerned guest editors will be informed about the timeline so that they can prepare well in advance for their issues. All articles that will be published as part of the guest-edited issue will follow the regular peer-review policy of the journal. The guest editors will be provided details when their proposal is accepted.
