In view of the growing interest at the international level, the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) is implementing a pilot program to welcome higher education institutions worldwide to participate in the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System™ (STARS) program. STARS® was launched by AASHE in January 2010 after several years of research and development by the higher education and sustainability communities in USA and Canada. The STARS International Pilot (pdf) is an opportunity for institutions located outside the US and Canada to participate in STARS and publicly document their efforts related to sustainability. The pilot will also provide an opportunity for international institutions to share feedback and make suggestions for improvements to the system. The results of the pilot will help determine the eventual role of STARS in a global context.
To be eligible to participate in the STARS International Pilot, an institution must be a higher education college or university based in a country outside the USA or Canada. Participation in the pilot will be limited to 50 institutions. Registration will be open until 31 December 2012.
