Abstract
The differences in the social interactions of preschool-aged nondisabled and children with disabilities in 2 toy conditions was investigated. Social toys and isolate toys were presented in a systematic manner to 24 children 3-5 years of age for approximately 7 weeks. Results indicated that the 5-year-old children displayed more social interactions in the social toy condition. Further, the disabled subjects displayed more social interactions in the social toy condition. Nondisabled subjects had a higher rate of social interactions in both toy conditions as compared to the disabled subjects.
