Research on effect of stiffness and damping characteristics of smart spring support on vibration characteristics of multi-span shaft system

Abstract

The smart spring support is an active vibration damping device based on piezoelectric ceramics, which has a good suppression effect on vibrations of multi-span shaft systems. To achieve the vibration control of multi-span shaft systems in different working conditions, it’s vital to grasp the influence of stiffness and damping characteristics of the smart spring support on vibration characteristics of multi-span shaft systems. In this paper, the simulation modeling method of a multi-span shaft system with the smart spring support is proposed and experimentally verified. Based on this method, simulation models of the smart spring support under three working states are established, and the stiffness and damping characteristics of the smart spring support under different working states are analyzed. The influence of the smart spring support on the vibration characteristics of the multi-span shaft system is also analyzed. The results show that the smart spring support under the slip state has a better vibration damping effect on the shaft system than the separation state and complete combination state. The optimal output force of the smart spring support is 300N when the shaft system is in steady state, and 600N when the shaft system is in trans-critical state, with vibration reduction rates of 50% and 55%.
