Abstract
Game administrators must decide on team size and task assignments within teams. The research reported in this article addresses one key component of that decision; namely, should a formal leader be added to each group or should the group members be allowed to perform as peers. The authors held constant the differences across sections and across the subtasks that the individual group members performed. The authors found no evidence that groups with the added leader had better financial performance than groups without a formal leader.
