Values issues-ethics and social responsibility-have been shown to be appropriate
subject matter for functional courses in business programs. However, examining intro
ductory marketing texts reveals these subjects receiving scant treatment. Further,
macro issues associated with social responsibility receive significantly more coverage
than micro, or individual, issues-those more likely to be encountered by recent
graduates.
