Abstract

The Association for Experiential Education announces the search for a new Editor(s) for the Journal of Experiential Education. This peer-reviewed, quarterly publication has been serving the field of experiential education since its establishment in 1978.
The Journal of Experiential Education (JEE), provides researchers and practitioners with research on experiential education and its related fields. It presents a diverse range of articles in subject areas, such as outdoor and adventure programming, service learning, environmental education, therapeutic applications and research and theory. Editors will be expected to work with AEE and SAGE to ensure high quality peer review and timely and accurate delivery of manuscripts for publication.
The Editor(s) will be responsible for soliciting, reviewing and making final decisions on submissions to the journal and will manage all aspects of the publication and review process using the Manuscript Central electronic submission and review platform. Editors are expected to maintain timely and effective communication, advance journal performance and work towards upholding JEE’s high quality standard.
Applicants should have a distinguished scholarly record in the fields of experiential education as well as experience in academic leadership roles. Applicants should also possess strong organizational and management skills, the ability to work well with others and a commitment to engaged scholarship.
Applicants should develop and share their vision for JEE – article content, growth in the journal’s prestige, strategies for outreach and connecting authors and readers, editorial board structure and submission review processes. Please include this vision in your application.
AEE provides some editorial support, but the editor’s institution will also be expected to provide support for the editor. Your application should indicate the expected level of institutional support, which might come in the form of additional faculty release time, travel funds, summer salary, office space, utilities, the use of computers and other office equipment, student workers or other basic expenses.
Applicants should send a letter of application, which includes their vision for the future of the journal and a description of their qualifications for the editorship. Applicants should also include their CV and documentation indicating prospective institutional support.
Applicants are encouraged to contact the current JEE editors at
