Abstract
The first test of HABS coding reliability was made in April 1973, using four analysts, who independently replicated the coding of forty sources. Nine codes on Field Work Techniques were tested, producing a coding reliability of over 90 percent for five variables and 82 percent for one other. The coding of the three remaining variables showed a lower percentage (54 to 66 percent), and these codes may have to be revised.
