Abstract

All things come to an end—or so the saying goes.
And so it is with my serving as editor of Journalism & Mass Communication Educator.
A challenge at first, the editorship most recently has been an onerous task for which I have had limited time. The commitment to a deanship takes precedence over the task of editing, so I must say farewell.
The editorship has been a wonderful opportunity to internationalize the journal; work with pre-tenure faculty, in particular, to help publish their research; and attend to trends in the media industries that impact what’s happening in classrooms nationwide and worldwide in journalism and mass communications.
It has been an opportunity to work with a range of people: researchers; reviewers; former and current SAGE production editors Leah Fargotstein, Isabella Hecht, and John Gill; Senior Peer Review Associate Manish Nainwal; the editorial advisory board; the AEJMC Publications Committee; and Jennifer McGill, executive director of AEJMC.
I greatly appreciate those of you who have been such reliable reviewers over the years and who have been a major help, especially Dr. Ed Simpson, Central Michigan University, and Dr. Ted Gutsche, Florida International University. I say a special thanks to my University of Nebraska colleague—Dr. Jeremy Lipschultz—who has served as books review editor and who was always among the most reliable contributors to the journal. I greatly appreciate Dr. Julie Andsager’s willingness to step in as associate editor and to bridge the transition to my successor. It is satisfying to me to know that I leave behind a considerable number of manuscripts already accepted and ready for publication. That should ease the transition for the incoming editor.
It has been a great honor to serve as editor, to help shape the journal’s contribution to journalism and mass communications pedagogy. I look forward to future editions of the journal and to reading your contributions over coming years.
Best wishes for your continued success,
