Abstract

I write this final Editor’s Note with gratitude and appreciation for those with whom I’ve worked over the past few years. I thank our readers who eagerly awaited each issue and pored over international perspectives and research. I thank our editorial board members who reviewed every article, worked diligently with authors to develop high-quality scholarship, and brainstormed ideas for our upcoming issues. I thank our senior editorial board members who led our team with grace, compassion, and understanding as we evolved the journal to meet the needs of the ever-changing landscape of higher education. I thank the staff at Sage and ACPA who had patience with us and helped us expand About Campus immensely over the last five years.
About Campus has grown significantly since our Editorial Team started in 2018. We published special issues related to the Covid-19 pandemic, Minority-Serving Institutions, community colleges, and carcerality. We worked with hundreds of authors to develop their articles into great pieces of scholarship, whether we were their first publication or 50th. We reviewed approximately 550 manuscripts and worked with authors from all over the world, at all stages of their careers. We sought articles that focused on criticality and used theory to address pertinent issues within higher education. We released a Diversity Statement to solidify the importance of representation within our Board and the articles we publish. We changed the article types to better reflect the needs of our readers. We welcomed new members to our Editorial Board and offered guidance to those just starting or well-established in their higher education careers.
I want to welcome Z Nicolazzo as the new Executive Editor of About Campus. I know she has exciting plans for the journal and will continue to move it forward. There are new members of the Graduate Student and New Professionals Editorial Board who will lead the journal into the future. Accepted articles will now be launched into OnlineFirst which is perhaps the best news I get to write today! She is starting a podcast with Alex C. Lange about critical praxis and how About Campus can inform our work. This is truly an exciting time for the journal and I can’t wait to read future issues.
As we wrap up our final summer plans and start another academic year, I want to thank you all for five wonderful years. I look forward to where we grow from here!
