Influence of Additional Thermal Insulation on Performance of Existing Walls Using Prefabricated Lightweight Panels

Abstract

The effects of adding thermally insulated, prefabricated, lightweight panels to existing building walls has been investigated. The performance and durabil ity of the retrofitted wall has been investigated in the laboratory and in the field. A new strategy for ventilating cavity walls and controlling heat flow with thermally ac tivated dampers on vents is presented.
