Investigation of the suitability of MoS 2 coating to enhance the tribological properties of 100Cr6-PTFE/Kevlar friction pairs across a wide temperature range
In this study on the 100Cr6-PTFE/Kevlar friction pair, a molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) coating was applied to the surface of 100Cr6 steel to investigate its suitability for improving tribological properties over a wide temperature range. The results demonstrated that the MoS2 coating effectively reduced the coefficient of friction across this range. Specifically, the maximum wear depths of the fabric liner were reduced by approximately 0.91%, 14.56%, and 28.32% at temperatures of −50 °C, 50 °C, and 150 °C, respectively. As temperature increased, the friction pair with the MoS2 coating underwent a transition from plastic deformation to adhesive wear. Overall, the friction pair coated with MoS2 exhibited excellent self-lubricating performance across the wide temperature range.
