Abstract

Publication statistics
Publication statistics are of interest (for different reasons) to author, subscriber and publisher alike. They also allow the identification of long-term trends relating to the JTT. During 2019, the average length of time from submission to first decision was 14 days. The average length of time between the submission of a manuscript and a final decision was 21 days. In 2019, the average days from acceptance to publication online was 29 days. The proportion of submitted papers accepted for publication in the JTT was 21%.
Bibliometric statistics
Bibliometric statistics are compiled each year by the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI). The JTT is included in the ISI category ‘Health care sciences and services’ which covers 98 journals. For the 2018 IF calculation, the median number of citable articles published by journals in this category was 91 (interquartile range 49–163). For the 2019 IF calculation, the median number of citations to articles published in the 98 journals in the health care sciences category was 117.5 (interquartile range 4–522). The ratio between the number of citations and the number of articles published gives the impact factor. The JTT published 175 citable articles and received 390 citations. The JTT’s impact factor in 2019 was 2.229 and the journal ranked 47th out of 98.

Free online access for subscribers will continue in 2020. Online access is becoming increasingly popular with subscribers and access to abstracts and full-text downloading continues to grow. JTT online usage figures for 2019 are summarised in Table 1.

Acknowledgements
Since the majority of the journal’s referees are overseas, it is our opinion that the very rapid refereeing time (usually less than three weeks) reflects great credit on them. As Editors, we are most grateful to the following reviewers, whether domestic or international, for their assistance with refereeing papers.
