Investigating and comparing the mechanical behavior of multicellular structures made with PLA and ABS under lateral loading

In this research, multicellular structures using two materials acrylonitrile butadiene styrene and Polylactic Acid in various geometries were investigated. At the beginning of this research, samples with a thickness of 1 mm were made using 3D printers. These samples were subjected to quasi-static loading and force-displacement curves were extracted for them. Subsequently, LS-DYNA finite element software was used to simulate the structures under quasi-static loading and the tested samples in the experimental mode were simulated. After comparing the experimental and numerical results and ensuring the correctness of the simulations, different states were simulated and a total of 6 experimental samples and 30 numerical samples were examined. The results obtained in this research showed that with the increase in the number of cells, the amount of specific energy absorption of the samples increased. It was also found that in the samples with square cores, the number of cores in each row and column corresponds to the number of force peaks and the number of peaks increases with the increase of cores.
