Abstract

In some cases the experience of an urgent condition such as the crisis emerging from the financial meltdown of Greek society can become the stimulus necessary to adopting a more open minded view of society and the world. People are obliged to seek out more information about policies and question and engage in a new understanding and redefinition of society.
‘Failure’ in every aspect of our daily lives could be perceived not as a permanent fatal ‘malfunction’ that makes the future look increasingly dystopian but could be reinterpreted as an intriguing situation that inevitably obliges us to develop an interest in considering and exploring different approaches to contemporary economic and social problems.
Similarly the constructive aspect of my work is therefore not a result of technical solutions, but of clumsy hand-work, suggesting the willingness of the artist to explore new ways of understanding.
