Abstract

Dr Praveen Panickar is currently a Senior Research Scientist at Combustion Research and Flow Technologies, Inc. (CRAFT Tech). He received a BE in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Baroda, and an MS and PhD in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology (2008). After graduation, he joined CRAFT Tech as a Research Scientist and is located at the satellite office in University, MS, where he supports CRAFT Tech’s experimental activities that are conducted in partnership with the National Center for Physical Acoustics (NCPA) at the University of Mississippi. Dr Panickar’s field of expertise is analytical and experimental fluid dynamics and aeroacoustics, and he has over 15 years of experience in a wide range of measurement and analysis techniques relevant to fluid dynamics and aeroacoustics research including near-field and far-field measurements, linear stability analyses, beamforming methods for acoustic source localization, analysis of nonlinear propagation of shock waveforms, numerical estimation of acoustic scattering from planar and non-planar surfaces, and proper orthogonal decomposition (POD). Some of Dr Panickar's recent activities include sponsored research programs funded by various DoD agencies to study jet-noise reduction techniques in shock-containing jets as well acoustic models of jet noise from rectangular supersonic jets. Additionally, Dr Panickar has also been involved in research programs that involve the study of jet aeroacoustics relevant to numerous configurations of free and impinging jets with varying exit geometry and flowfield complexities. Dr Panickar is a Senior Member of the American Institute for Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA).
