Martin Lövdén is a Professor of Cognitive Neuroscience, Aging Research Center, Karolinska Institutet, Sweden and Professor of Psychology, Department of Psychology, Gothenburg University, Sweden. Martin Lövdén studied psychology at Lund University and neuroscience at Karolinska Institutet. He completed his doctoral degree in psychology at Stockholm University and his post doc at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development, Berlin, Germany. The aims of his research are to discover the principle mechanisms that govern human skill learning and to understand the role that skill learning plays in life-span development. He received the Sofja Kavalevskaja award from the Alexander von Humboldt foundation in 2007. His research has been consistently funded by the Swedish and European Research Councils.
Laura Fratiglioni is a Professor at the Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden, and is the Director of the National E-infrastructure on Aging Research, supported by VR, and the former Director of the Aging Research Center. She is the principal investigator of The Swedish National Study on Aging and Care-Kungsholmen population study, the scientific coordinator of the Kungsholmen Project on Aging and Dementia, and coinvestigator of several EU projects. She is a medical doctor, specialized in both neurology and epidemiology. As a clinician, Laura has worked mostly in Italy at the University Hospital of Florence; as researcher, she has been mostly active at Karolinska Institute, Sweden. Her major scientific contributions concern primary and secondary prevention of dementia, and more recently multimorbidity and longevity among the old adults. She has received several awards, including Karolinska Institutet’s Grand Silver Medal and the Karolinska Institutet Distinguished Professor Award, Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Alzheimer’s Association, and the Sohlberg’s Nordic Prize in Gerontology.
M. Maria Glymour is a Professor of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the University of California, San Francisco. Her research examines how social factors experienced across the life course, from infancy to adulthood, influence cognitive function, dementia, stroke, and other health outcomes in old age. A separate theme of her research focuses on overcoming methodological problems encountered in analyses of social determinants of health, Alzheimer’s disease, and dementia. She serves on the editorial board for Research on Aging and Neurology and contributes to several research projects funded by the National Institute on Aging. This includes a mixed-methods investigation of how different education trajectories influence health behaviors and health status. She was previously awarded the Psychiatric-Neurological Epidemiology Early Investigator Award from Columbia University.
Ulman Lindenberger is the Director of the Center for Lifespan Psychology at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development, Berlin, Germany. Together with Ray Dolan, he also directs the Max Planck University College London Centre for Computational Psychiatry and Ageing Research, located in London and Berlin. He currently serves as the Vice President of the Max Planck Society representing the Human Sciences. Ulman studied psychology and biology in Berlin and Berkeley. He completed his doctoral degree and habilitation in psychology at the Freie Universität Berlin, and then held a professorship at Saarland University. Currently, he holds honorary professorships with the Freie Universität Berlin, the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, and Saarland University. His research interests include behavioral and neural aspects of plasticity across the life span, age changes in brain-behavior relations, life-span developmental theory, and multivariate developmental methodology. He is a member of the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, and received the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize 2010 of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft.
Elliot M. Tucker-Drob is a Professor of Psychology at the University of Texas at Austin. His research seeks to clarify the biological, psychological, and social mechanisms that give rise to person-to-person variation in cognitive development, cognitive aging, personality, and risk for psychiatric disease and dementia. This work combines multivariate and longitudinal statistical methods with methods from human genetics, neuroscience, psychiatric epidemiology, differential psychology, and demography. Tucker-Drob’s research is funded by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, the National Institute on Aging, the National Institute of Mental Health, and the Jacobs Foundation. He is a fellow of the Association for Psychological Science and the 2019 recipient of the Max Planck-Humboldt Medal.
