The authors evaluated data from the Dutch Randomized Endovasc uar Aneurysm Management (DREAM) trial to assess the effect of elective endovascular aneurysm repair and open repair of abdominal aortic aneurysm on sexual dysfunction. A ques ionnaire adapted from the Medical Outcomes Study was used to evaluate sexual functioning peroperatively and at 3, 6, 13, 26, and 52 in the first postoperative year. At least one aspect of dysfunction was reported preoperatively by 66%' in the operatic e group and 7 496 in the endovascular group. The postoperatv e results showed that surgery had a clear impact. Both groups had an increase in sexual dysfunction at 3 weeks after the operation, but .t was more pronounced in the OR group and at 6 weeks the OR group stihl reported a s gnificant increase in three aspects. By 3 months, both groups had returned to baseline. The authors concluded that recovery of sexual function s faster in the endovascular group.
