This paper is intended for human factors practitioners who are looking to develop or evaluate intraorganizational human factors design guidelines. It is based on the experiences of a Canadian hydro-electric utility that is currently working on a multi-stage project to develop an intraorganizational human factors design guideline. The paper discusses the challenges faced, methods used to overcome the challenges, outcomes from the implementation of the methods, and recommendations to practitioners.
