This report describes the experiments we have conducted with an ultrasound image system (IVUS) and a three-dimensional intravascular ultrasound image system (3-D IVUS), to examine where and how vascular stents should be applied in the lesion, as a step towards mastering the techniques of this therapeutic approach.
Based on the IVUS findings, it appears to be of importance to select an appropriate type of stent, and the indiscriminate application of stents must be avoided, except in emergency cases.
