Neuroleadership is a miracle or a mirage: A bibliometric and comparative analysis between organisational neuroleadership and educational neuroleadership
This review utilised bibliometric methods to investigate the metadata of documents on neuroleadership published over a span of 26 years, from its inception in 2000 until 2025. The current study is based on a review of 128 documents, among which, 11 (8.59%) are from the education domain. Two databases were created, namely, database of neuroleadership in general and database of neuroleadership in education. The bibliometric techniques enable summarising the descriptive trends, and revealing its underlying intellectual structure. The distinctive aspect of the comparing literature of neuroleadership in general with that of neuroleadership in education yields valuable insights into neuroleadership in education. Moreover, a between-group comparison between this review and other reviews on neuroleadership is presented in the discussion. Research found a significant increase in neuroleadership publications since 2012, with the United States leading in research output. The analysis identified five key themes in general neuroleadership research and three within the educational domain. The utilisation of bibliometric techniques and comparative analysis offers comprehensive perspectives on the development and contrast of the neuroleadership literature in general and that in education in particular.
