Tapping the potential of the National Institute for Health Research Collaborations for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care (CLAHRC) to develop research capacity and capability in nursing
Nine Collaborations for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care (CLAHRCs) were established by the National Institute of Health Research in 2008 with the remit to undertake high-quality applied health research and support the translation of research findings into practice within the National Health Service in England. Each CLAHRC represents a collaborative partnership between one or more universities and their neighbouring NHS organisations. This investment in research infrastructure presents considerable opportunities for nursing to develop capacity and capability to undertake research and knowledge translation activity and support clinical academic careers. However, in order for the potential of CLAHRCs to be realised investment in nursing leadership is required.
