The editors requested corrections to the initially published piece. In particular, they asked for consistent use of the correct terminology - ‘The 1994 genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda’ - in place of ‘Rwandan genocide.’ They also requested clarification of the following points:
1. References to the number of victims of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda, widely accepted to be between 800,000 and over 1 million. In response, the writers decided to remove the figure from the piece altogether.
2. Clarification or removal of statements related to “Tutsi extremism” in relation to the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda.
These changes were requested in the spirit of MWC’s commitment to the highest standards of historical accuracy and promotion of fact-based, respectful and inclusive research.
