Severe Adenovirus Infection: An Under-Recognised Disease with Limited Treatment Options

Abstract

Severe adenovirus infections can occur in both immunocompromised and immunocompetent patients. New serotypes are emerging in the UK, and should be considered in patients who present with respiratory tract symptoms and no other obvious pathogen. The difficulties of diagnosis and treatment of severe adenovirus infection are discussed.
