Abstract

Answer E. Oral prednisolone
This patient is suffering from Bell’s palsy. The key differentiation between this and a cerebrovascular accident (stroke) is the inability to wrinkle the forehead on the affected side. This means that there is a lower motor neurone deficit (as opposed to the upper motor neurone deficit found in a cerebrovascular accident). The correct treatment is oral prednisolone and eye care.
