Abstract

Answer D. It is the advice of the RCGP to have a nominated member of the general practice team who is responsible for connecting with locally available services
The RCGP together with other agencies developed a safeguarding toolkit to be used in general practice. When assessing if a woman is safe to go home it helps to have a checklist of questions to assess the level of risk. When documenting physical findings if there are any, it is important that the correct language is used. It is important that the clinician who is having contact with the survivor liaises with the other practice members in case the patient sees another doctor or if any other team member has treated another family member and has some vital information. The police are usually responsible for referring victims for multi-agency risk assessment conferences (MARAC) as they tend to be involved in situations where domestic violence has escalated. However healthcare professionals and social services can also refer.
