A 39-year-old lady, who has recently started a new relationship comes to see you for advice on starting contraception. She does not suffer with migraines and is a non-smoker. Her mother had breast cancer 10 years ago, but this was treated and now she has been given the ‘all clear’. The patient has a known BRCA1 gene mutation. Her body mass index (BMI) is 23 kg/m2 and her blood pressure is 124/82 mmHg.
