A 24-year-old man comes to see you with his partner. They are having problems with their relationship because of his ‘actions’. He is unable to keep a job. He has just left his third job in 1 year. He says he feels restless; he cannot sit through meetings and gets bored very easily. He cannot concentrate properly and makes a lot of mistakes at work. He had similar problems at school. He has difficulties managing household finances, which puts extra pressure on their relationship. He does not suffer from low mood and has no symptoms of psychosis. He does not use drugs or drink alcohol. You notice during the consultation that he appears restless and seems, at times, unusually disinterested in the conversation.
