The mother of an 8-year-old boy comes to see you because she is quite worried about her son’s behaviour. He is very ‘fidgety’ and she can never get him to sit still. He plays very loudly. He is always running or climbing on something even when it is not appropriate. He doesn’t take his turn in queues. Mum hasn’t noticed any motor or vocal tics. The teachers at school have also commented that he constantly interrupts them during class and calls out answers inappropriately. He doesn’t finish any of the tasks they give him and keeps losing his belongings.
