Abstract

Endometriosis should be suspected when patients present with a triad of chronic pelvic pain, dysmenorrhoea and deep dyspareunia. It is caused by deposits of endometrial tissue outside the uterus. A cervical polyp and ectropion can present with post-coital bleeding. Fibroids can cause painful and heavy periods as well as urinary and bowel symptoms. Pelvic inflammatory disease is caused by an infection and can present with vaginal discharge and feeling unwell.
